It's season finale time! (Part l)

It's time to catch up and some series finales shows that i have seen lately and that i could not comment on, and i really had to do it. There are many more i want to talk about so i'll be making another post for others shows like 'Dark', 'Everything Sucks', the season finale of 'Love', 'Divorce' or the upcoming 'Grey's Anatomy', but in the meantime here are the ones that i recently watched. It has minor spoilers but you've been warned!

UnReal (Season 3) - The thing with 'UnReal' is that the first season was outstanding, it was such a guilty pleasure that it was hard to live up to that. The second season was fine and now the third one, with a suitress instead of a male suitor, was a nice change for the show's formula, and while it wasn't bad, it was not amazing either. But i adore dark and twisted characters like Quinn and i love watching this mess of a show. Now, the preview of the fourth season was something... beyond.They totally had to change their formula and they did a twist that we didn't expect at all, that was having Rachel as the suitress. And we all know she's going to be a mess, a complete and total mess. And i really can't wait to watch it but we'll have to wait until 2019.

The X Files (Season 11) It's really surprinsing but this season of 'The X Files' has been excellent. Sure it had some boring episodes like the two first eps and the Skinner one, but the rest have been absolutely fantastic. From 'Plus One' or 'Familiar' that echoed the good old seasons, to the 'Black Mirror'-esque 'Rm9sbG93ZXJz', this season made us believe that the show hasn't lost its touch. it hasn't but maybe it's about time that we say goodbye for good to the show and end it on a high note, after all, it seems that Gillian Anderson is not coming back for more seasons. But anyway, whatever happens to the show i have to admit that Mulder and Scully still make my heart skip a beat.

American Crime Story: Versace  I was really looking forward to see what Ryan Murphy had done with the murder case of one of the most important fashion designers in the world, especially when it had Penélope Cruz as Donatella Versace, but the season has been a bit of a let down. Sure the actors are all amazing on the show, from the lead Darren Criss, to Penélope, Edgar Ramirez as Gianni or personal favorites of mine like Michael Nouri or Max Greenfield, the cast is brilliant but the story... not so much. As many others, i expected to see more of the Versace family but instead we got a look at the complete life of the murderer Andrew Cunanan and hence, the disappointment. And it wasn't a bad story but i was looking forward to see a different story.

'The X Files' Season 10

(Spoilers are out there)
Mulder and Scully have come and gone faster than the blink of an eye, and this mini season with only six episodes has left us with the feeling that it wasn't enough.

This revival of 'The X Files' couldn't have been any more perfect and satisfying for any devoted fan of the show who didn't expect a new season coming. There were many who jumped off the bandwagon with messy seasons 8 and 9 but i bet that even those have enjoyed this 10th season.

Apart from the two first episodes 'My Struggle' and 'Founder's Mutation' which i already commented, the following four eps haven even gotten better. And i think the top of the cake was precisely the following ep 'Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster' (3x10) where the good old comical episodes were back. These were the best episodes ever, those that had a funny tone and where everything was absurd but hilarious and even Scully says so in the ep. You cannot tell how much i adored this one as it transported me back to being 13 and enjoying to the most these kind of episodes. They were absolutely the best of 'The X Files'.

Following this glorious ep came 'Home Again' (4x10) which is probably the most serious one of the season along with both 'My Struggle' and 'My Struggle II'. This one focused mainly on Scully and the loss of her mother which triggers her wish to find William, the son she had with Mulder, and make sure that he's fine. It was an emotional episode that put on the table their feelings about their son, and therefore opened a new door for the search of this mysterious young boy.

Next up there was 'Babylon' (5x10) which had both a serious and a funny tone, mainly because of the two new young versions of Mulder and Scully that screamed spin-off, but i don't think nobody is buying that. It was too obvious and both characters doesn't have charisma enough to have a show of their own. Anyway, apart from that the ep was only ok for me though the ending saved it a bit (i didn't really like Mulder's mushroom-placebo trip and missed the three gunmen cameo). But Mulder being all positive at the end and taking Scully's hand for a walk made me giggle just like my teenage self would and i liked that, even though i appreciated in this season that they didn't focus on the are they on or not thing.

And finally 'My Struggle II' (6x10) which lefts us all crazy. Following the initial trama in the first episode, the whole world seems to be ending just like the season but not really. The open ending makes us want to believe that there will be more after this, that this is not the end and David Duchovny tweeting the pic below has to mean something. This episode got us with a rush of adrenaline and seemed to closure the whole show but not quite. I'm guessing by all this that there's more awaiting for us and after how well has gone this season i don't see why not. I want to believe.

Mulder and Scully are back

After 14 years, Mulder and Scully are back. It's an easy thing to say but we surely didn't expect it. As with all reboots, one is scared that it's gonna be a mess and will taint the gloriousness that the show was, but this wasn't the case. In fact, it feels like time hasn't passed at all.

When i was 12 i was obsessed with 'The X Files'. During highschool, my two best friends and i always arrived on Monday willing to discuss the new episode we watched the night before, and especially, if there was any close move between Mulder and Scully. We were hoping so much for a kiss, for anything happening between them that when they did (in that first movie) it was disappointing. But anyway, we loved the cases, the drama, the conspiracy and the humour some episodes had, especially this last thing. And in the new eps, there's a bit of all of that.

Two new episodes were out for all the joy and satisfaction of the most die-hard fans, and they didn't let us down. The first one, 'My Struggle' was a good old conspiracy episode. I find these the most boring ones but as a starter, it had to be like that. What happened to Mulder after all these years out of the FBI and far from Scully's life, while she was devoted to medicine and the science she believed the most. It was intense and a lot of answers of what happened during this period of time were answered and many other questions surfaced. While in the second one, 'Founder's Mutation' was more like your average episode, that contained some enigma to be solved and a bit of humor involved. I enjoyed this one better, because it felt like the old times.

This 10th season will have only six episodes, and having watched the first two, it feels like they won't be enough. I don't know if there's plans to pick up a full season if the response is good (ratings were on fire) or if there will be another season, but i really hope they do, because there can be a lot more to explore with these two (and that kid they gave up for adoption). I want to believe there will be more.

Top 10 favorite TV female characters

Last week, we've received the news everyone was waiting for, 'Scream Queens' got renewed for a second season! And while i thought like Ryan Murphy did with 'American Horror Story', that the new season was gonna have an entirely new set of characters and a new story, it turns out that not only Lea Michele is reprising her role as Hester, but Chanel Oberlin will be back! That's right, sluts, Emma Roberts will play again the infamous sorority queen and i'm so excited about it because i thought Chanel was out of our lives for good. Because with only one season she has already become one of my favorite tv characters, and i know she is too for many out there. So, as a celebration of that, i'm making a list of my favorite tv characters of all time from some of my fave shows, listed in chronological order behind the cut, so enjoy and share yours!

Audrey Horne - Twin Peaks (1990)

Audrey Horne was too dreamy for an apparently boring town like Twin Peaks where nothing ever happened, until Laura Palmer's death, that is. Sherilyn Fenn played this teen temptress that fell instantly in love with agent Cooper and that loved coffee just because of him. Audrey was too much for such a small town and often danced in places just because. Her wit, mischievous ways and innocence all combined made her stand out from the rest. And she's going to be in the revival of the series so i can't wait for that.

The Hollywood Reporter's 100 Favourite TV Shows

The Emmys were last night and while i was super bummed that Lena Headey didn't win for her  amazing portrayal of Cersei Lannister in 'Game of Thrones', especially this season, the rest was ok to me because basically i don't watch most of those who won.

So, what a better way to celebrate tv shows with The Hollywood Reporter's 100 Favourite Shows voted by their readers. As usual, not everyone agrees 100% with lists but this one is not bad and features some of my fave series on really high positions. Of course i'm missing shows like 'My So-Called Life', 'Girls' or 'Grey's Anatomy'. but i'm commenting the ones i liked best after the cut.
