Living life the Marie Antoinette kind of way

In honor of the iconic movie 'Marie Antoinette' turning 10 years old last week, i'm dedicating a post to some inspired or influential images that evoke the prettiness that was the Sofia Coppola movie.

There's no denying that even though you liked the movie or not, it certainly inspired many ad campaigns and photoshoots with that mixture of the aristocratic18th century style but adapting it to modern times, and the result is always delightful. So, after the cut, i'm adding a bunch of images that follow the Marie Antoinette lifestyle and why, i might forget some obvious choices but feel free to suggest them to me and enjoy!

W Magazine's The Movie Issue

W Magazine is featuring the 39 best performances of the year with photographs of the actors taken by fabulous photographer Tim Walker and of course the result is flawless.

Among the ones i've seen there's the fantastic Bill Hader in 'The Skeleton Twins' (such a shame they didn't feature Kristen Wiig), Scarlett Johansson in 'Under the Skin' (portrait at the source) or Ethan Hawke for 'Boyhood' but i'm anxious to check out the rest as Oscar season is coming.

A Strange World with Tilda Swinton by Tim Walker

Tim Walker always does amazing photoshoots, he always makes a difference, so when he shot Tilda Swinton for W Magazine at the home and museum of art collectors Dominique and John de Menil, it was anything but ordinary.

Not only does Tilda Swinton look outlandish and like she doesn't below to this world but the whole shoot is really fantastic, all that surrounded by a vast collection in which she serves as another work of art.

Far, far from land by Tim Walker

Tim Walker's portfolios are always far from boring, and this one for the December issue of W Magazine, is far from that. In fact, it pictures a mermaid, in the human form of model Kristen McMenamy, being trapped in the human world, captured in a giant cage for others to see as if it was a freak show, far her from her natural setting.

I love when editorials depict the modernisation of fairy tales, like the This is not the princess i wanted to become i posted some years ago, and how they always turn uglier when given a modern treatment.
