20 Years of 'Sex & The City' and 20 Reasons Why It Remains Fabulous

'Sex and The City' turns 20 years old this week, can you believe? It seems like yesterday that this show about some thirty-something women first aired and changed TV forever. Yeah, that might sound dramatic but it did, as there was no other show that talked that openly about sex, and coming from a female perspective no less! So, they need to be appreciated more because even though the first seasons look a bit outdated now because of the fashion and those monologues from random people straight to the camera, the rest feels fresh and the feelings, doubts and humour remains relatable.

So, in honor of one of the best shows ever and one of my personal favorites, here are 20 reasons why this show remains flawless, in no specific order. Check them all out after the cut!

The girls

Each of the four main characters are simply amazing. From Miranda's neurotic ways, to Charlotte's prude mentality, Samantha's festive way of life or Carrie's dramas, there isn't one that could be missing. I'm a Miranda and I know some say she's the worst one but they certainly don't know a thing as she's the most down to earth character. And while Carrie was at first everyone's favorite, i liked that as seasons went on, people preferred the other girls. But as a whole they made the best combo of women you could ever have.

The City

If there's a big love story in the show, is the one that the characters have with New York City and they made you fall in love with it too. From restaurants to the Manhattan Bridge, to cool spots in the Soho or fancy boutiques, the show was full of locations that made you wonder how amazing it must be to live right there. I don't think there has been another show that showed the City as great as they did, even though 'Gossip Girl' did really nice as well.

Female friendship

One of the most important things of the show is not the sex or their relationships they had with other men, but the friendship between four ladies. It's beautifully shown and you could see their ups and downs but in the end they had each other's back no matter what and that was the biggest bond the series had. And they made me tear up a little whenever they got emotional between them, they argued or they simply showed their true love for each other.

Met Gala: Heavenly Bodies - Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

This year's MET Gala has been quite stunning and i'm so glad of that. The theme was quite easy to follow and many celebs have gone ahead with it and provided amazing looks, while others did so little about it just by having a cross necklace or not sticking to the theme at all. But below are my total favorite looks from the night, because this year the Met Gala hasn't disappointed. I haven't included Katy Perry because that was too much, Cardi B., because she looked exactly like an old Beyonce look and we all know it, or the Jenners who didn't even try. Kate Bosworth was absolutely beautiful looking like a virgin in this dreamy Oscar de la Renta gown

 This was an easy theme for Madonna as she provided a total look in Jean Paul Gaultier

 SZA has to be my favorite look as she looked heavenly and cute in Versace

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley had a pristine look in Ralph Lauren

Lana del Rey's look in motion looks amazing, as she and Jared Leto were wearing Gucci and looked like they came straight out of a painting

'Divorce' Season 1

(Spoilers, obvs)
Yep, it has taken me a bit to watch 'Divorce HBO' but i finally did last night. It's not that i was not liking the show but it's true that i lost a bit of interest. But only a bit.

The Sarah Jessica Parker show started reaaally good with the first few eps, especially depicting the tough process of a break up from both sides and that's what i liked best about the series, that you could relate even with the smallest detail. Like when Robert (Thomas Haden Church) googled his wife's lover or tiny heartbreaking details like that. But after a few eps, the plot moved onto the legal thing and lawyers got involved and it got a little less attracting to me. Not that it was bad or anything but i preferred the sentimental part of it a bit more. Still there had been a lot of that in the show but not in the same way. But either way, is still a show that i will keep watching, especially now that in the finale we've seen that things are about to get really messy in the second season.

Apart from the plot, it has really great actors involved. From, obviously Sarah Jessica Parker as Frances (i would watch this woman in practically anything), Frances' friends with Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam are simply fantastic, and on the husband's part, Tracy Letts as Nick is also great. There's also the very fantastic Jeffrey DeMunn as Frances' lawyer who is always a joy to see (even though i'm afraid we sadly won't be getting more of him in S2) and even Frances' dad played by Robert Forster is an amazing addition.

I will be watching season 2 no matter what and while it's not a show that i watch right away when it's on, i always enjoy watching it. In the meantime, i'm posting a few great photographs of Sarah Jessica below that i really liked, because this woman is simply the most stylish person alive.

'Crisis in Six Scenes' and 'Divorce's pilots

While other times i've been excited about Fall season and all the new shows premiering, this year there only had been two shows that have caught my attention, for obvious reasons. First, Woody Allen's show 'Crisis in Six Scenes' which i've already talked about it, and Sarah Jessica Parker's return to tv with 'Divorce'. So, i've finally been able to watch both pilots and here are my two cents:

'Crisis in Six Scenes' first episode is not all that much, i agree with many that it seemed kinda weak, but it looks promising and it happens to me that, with anything Woody Allen does, i always like to watch it because there's a familiarity about it and i love his characters. Also, Miley Cyrus hasn't even appeared so i'm sure she will be the surprise of the show and will bring a lot of life to the plot. So, i'm going to binge-watch this as soon as possible.

And what about 'Divorce'? i was less excited about it, only watching for Sarah Jessica Parker, but i quite liked the pilot. Molly Shannon is also on the show which is always a bonus and the series looks good though i don't see it lasting long when it comes to a second season but i hope to be proven wrong. But i really missed seeing SJP on tv.

So, have you watched any other new shows? i guess i will also give 'Westworld' a watch but let me know if there are other new shows worth watching.

MET Gala 2016: Manus x Machina - Fashion in a Age of Technology

Finally, here's the post about the MET Gala 2016 looks. I know this is old news by internet standards but i had to do it no matter what, i've done it in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 so this year couldn't be a miss.

So, this year's theme was very 'Ex-Mchina'-esque, "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology' and this was quite a theme to amaze but some, as always, decided to put on the hell they wanted no matter what, when they could all have done sooo much better. But some have stick to the theme and have been more than amazing so here are my favourite looks from the MET Ball 2016 alongside others that haven't been so on point but are worth to criticise. Check them all after the cut!

Obvioulsy, this year's dress of the MET Gala has been the fantastic Zac Posen gown Claire Danes wore and it was mesemerizing (as well as electric). She was the absolute winner of the night.

MET Costume Institute Gala 2015: China Through the Looking Glass

Surprisingly, this year Met Gala's theme was totally on point for many. That means two things, one, that it was good and nearly everyone tried their best and second that many failed while trying. But that's better than not trying at all and just attempt to look pretty so let's take a look at all the ladies on this year's Met Gala because i think this has been a really good year (finally!). I'm not going to comment on hot messes like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Anne Hathaway or Madonna (i'm posting though, Dakota Johnson's cute clutch above) but check out all the pretty dresses after the cut!

 Personally, i think Fan Bingbing has been the absolute queen at this year's gala in this Christopher Bu sequined dress and cape.

I've recently came across this photoshoot of the always fabulous Sarah Jessica Parker photographed by Alexei Hai for Harper's Bazaar Arabia December 2014 and it's absolutely gorgeous.

Sarah Jessica is presenting her shoe line and the designs are really exquisite, affordable and totally Carrie-esque. She designed this line with the help of the CEO of Manolo Blahnik and there's even a sandal named Carrie. I think it's a gorgeous spread to present her shoe line like this so enjoy Sarah Jessica's fabulosity below.

MET Costume Institute Gala 2014: Charles James Beyond Fashion

MET Gala! Ok, i'm not gonna comment anything about this year's theme because as everyone who attended pretty much ignored it, i'm not going to bother about it.

This year i'm not only going to comment about the looks that i loved but also from others that have been really mixed up, in conclusion, about all the looks that matter, let's begin and let me know your faves!

Naomi Watts was, for me, queen of the night in this exquisite Givenchy dress that was a dream, she's always on point.

 Charlize Theron also saved the night in Dior even though she didn't look as stunning as Miss Watts while Cara Delevingne was effortesly chic and original wearing trousers in Stella McCartney

MET Costume Institute Gala 2013: 'PUNK: Chaos to Couture'.

The MET Gala was last night, biggest fashion event of the year, and the theme was punk and chaos, and while other years everyone simply ignored the theme, this time the ladies really made an effort to go punk, and while some succeeded and others looked boring, here are the best and worst looks of the gala from the people that really matters:

 Sarah Jessica stunned in Giles and with a really extravagant head piece (could have done without it) & Cara Delevingne was modern punk perfection in Burberry, my fave two looks from the event.

Marion & Tabitha

Mario Testino shot this photoshoot for Vogue Magazine in 2011 with Sarah Jessica Parker and her family, and it's simply gorgeous how this lady is always so fashionable, so it's not surprising that her twin girls, now 3-year-old Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, turned out to be so stylish as well. Of course, it's all their mamma's fault and Sarah Jessica herlsef has expressed how tragic it would be if they didn't have the same shoe size number as her when they grow up to inherit her shoes (all those Manolos!) so they're true heiresses of fashion. But in the meantime, it's lovely to see these little ladies dressed up all cute and chic so, as weird as that might be for some, i'm adding some pics of the twins out and about all dolled up in the streets of New York, little fashionistas in the making, these two princesses. But keep in mind that Tabitha Hodge (the brunette twin) remains the superior stylish twin for now.

How different would 'Sex and the City' be if were on TV now?

'Sex and the City' premiered on HBO 14 years ago (can you believe?) and BuzzFeed has wondered what would these ladies be like if the show was now on TV, they sorted 28 ways in which the show would be different now but here are my faves:

- Samantha would run a social media marketing company.

- They'd eat Magnolia Bakery's cake pops instead of cupcakes.

- Carrie would be insane for Pierre Hardy shoes instead of Manolo Blahniks.

- Carrie would write for Vogue.com instead of "Vogue".

- And she'd have at least 60,000 followers on Twitter.

- Carrie would refuse to give up her Blackberry while all her friends make fun of her for not having an Iphone (pretty much my life).

- Instead of breaking up with Carrie via PostIt, Burger would have broken up with her over Gchat.

- Instead of Cosmos they'd drink vodka sodas.


- Instead of this Gucci fannypack she'd carry a huge-ass Celine bag.

(AS IF, the Gucci fanny-pack is one of the best and one of my favourite fashion statements of the show).

- Charlotte would have met Harry on JDate.

- And she would have gotten all the ladies to try a juice fast.

- Carrie never would have followed Aleksander Petrovsky to Paris.

- Big would take cabs.

- Miranda would run the marathon again - in barefoot shoes.

- Carrie would eBay her stuff instead of giving it away.

- Samantha would read '50 Shades of Grey' and decide it's hardly raunchy or scandalous at all.

- Instead of Tivo-Ing 'Jules and Mimi' Miranda would DVR 'Downton Abbey'.

- Instead of writing a weekly column for the New York Star, Carrie would be a blogger.
