Celebrating 'Clueless' 20th anniversary

 

And more 'Clueless'! How come wouldn't i post these new old on set photos from the movie? Especially when they are this adorable and the cast looks so happy to be together.

Alicia Silverstone was a babe back then, she was 18 when she filmed the movie, and the rest of the young cast looks super young and fresh as well. You have to go after the cut to check them all, but it will only give you good vibes and a really nice look behind the scenes of this already iconic movie. Also, how great is this never before seen on set pic below? i adooooore it.

'Clueless' turns 20 so here are 20 reasons why this chick flick classic remains iconic

Twenty years ago the chick flick classic 'Clueless' was premiered (on July 19th, 1995 to be more exactly) and it changed the whole world of teen comedies. There weren't many movies for girls out there (despite 'Heathers' or John Hughes' movies like 'Sixteen Candles' and 'Pretty in Pink'), so a fresh comedy with a female protagonist was a breeze of fresh air for the teenage genre.

So, how could i not do a special post about 'Clueless'? AS IF i wouldn't do it, so check out twenty reasons why this chick flick classic is still relevant today after the cut, just because:

'Mean Girls' reunion on EW

OMG, this is so important news. This should have happened on October 3rd to be more fetch, but anyway, this is something fantastic.

This movie became an instant teen flick classic and to this day, the true heir of 'Heathers' and 'Clueless' has not yet been dethroned. Which is sad because there are so many good girlie movies out there but somehow the formula highschool-mean girls-drama doesn't work out. At least for now. But anyway, we'll always have those three movies to do an excellent chick flick marathon and i'm going to attempt to make a top 6 of other chick flicks to keep into consideration (i'm sorry, but no 'Pitch Perfect' or 'Bring It On', never liked them), be sure to check out the reunion interview these ladies had with EW and find out where Regina George would be after 10 years (so accurate):

10 years of 'Mean Girls'

What a movie. Seriously. I don't think that no one who went and watched it on the cinema (as i did) thought that this would become such a chick flick classic. A true modern heiress to 'Heathers' and 'Clueless', it contains all the basic elements in a highschool movie, from the mean chicks, to the newbie, the nerds, the losers, the stoners, the mathletes, the highschool band, Prom, Halloween parties, everything. But still, it's really something else. Blame Tina Fey (who wrote the screenplay) and  a really wide ensemble, each and every character having their own unique thing. It's a movie which it's success it's not centered on the main protagonist (Lindsay Lohan) in fact, she's kinda the less cool character of the whole film, kinda like the excuse. Everyone else shines through, even Trang Pak. And its humour (again, hand it to Miss Fey) it's excellent. I wish my friends and i could quote 'Mean Girls' as we do with 'The Goonies', because it has tons of cool quotes like "On Wednesdays we wear pink", "If you're from Africa why are you white?" and so on.

So it's been 10 years and the movie hasn't gotten old at all, i kinda think it has gotteb even better because there hasn't been another chick flick based on highschool that has been better. Of course, there are a ton of other comedies with a female ensemble that have been excellent, like Drew Barrymore's 'Whip It!', 'Bridesmaids', 'Easy A' or 'Bachelorette' (some even say 'Pitch Perfect' but as a i hate musicals or anything close, i didn't like it that much), but nothing like 'Mean Girls'.

So, in honor of its 10th year anniversary, i'm posting the best quotes from the movie, i should do a re-watch soon cause the movie it's really the guiltiest pleasure ever and i love films that leave me such a good feeling after laughing so hard. So fetch!

Top Chick Flicks

Yesterday was October 3rd (and also a Wednesday!) and because of this, it's the Mean Girls' day, it's as silly that:

I should have posted it then but i really forgot and uploaded something else but this deserved a post. Why? Because want it or not, 'Mean Girls' it's the chick flick of the 00s. There's not other movie like that on that period, so funny, cheeky, cool and good (yes, GOOD) as that one. Which reminds me of the three superior chick flicks of the last decades: There was 'Heathers' ('Escuela de jóvenes asesinos'), on the 80s, 'Clueless' on the 90s and 'Mean Girls' on the 00s and it doesn't get better than this. Of course there are some others like 'Never Been Kissed', 'Now & Then' or 'Bring It On' for some people (i've never, ever, liked that movie) but those three are the Queen Bees of that genre, those marked girly movies when they came out and while we're still waiting for the chick flick of this decade ('Bridesmaids' is a close one but does it fit that genre when there's no highschool involved?) here are some reminders on why these three movies are so great (and i love them so much):
