Comeback in pink

You may think whatever you want about Christina Aguilera, i've never been myself a fan even though i have her first album but who doesn't? Anyway, the thing is that some of her songs are cool, 'Dirrty', 'Lady Marmalade', 'What A Girl Wants'... but her new single 'Your Body' is a total hit. It is what it is, and the music video is lots of fabulosity and tons of pink (pink hair, pink trunk, pink motel, pink explosions, pink sparkle as blood...), tons of kitsch, cheap jewelry, girl power vibes, old school video games, trashy clothes, trashy tv-programs, sugar coated cereals, blue paint also as blood, big trailers, a tanning bed, a "fuck the paparazzi" t-shirt, and funtastic shades that make you remember when back in the day everyone said that Lady Gaga was copying Christina's style. It's a vid full of pop-culture references and this is the way to make a pop video, like the good old times when you could sit infront of the TV and watch MTV for hours.

Lana del Rey goes Blue Velvet

So many David Lynch-inspired campaigns these days, not only the Urban Outfitters Fall campaign but now the H&M fall 2012 campaign goes Lynch, directed by Johan Renck and with Lana del Rey's hypnotic vocals and pressence as the image of the brand.

The commercial pays an homage to David Lynch's classic movie 'Blue Velvet' and even though the result is kinda great - Lana's voice would fit perfectly on any Lynch scene and of course there's the obligatory creepy little man on the clip, one can help but wonder how the ad would had been it David Lynch had directed it himself. It would have been darker, way more sinister and would have contained some red curtains, but the effort is nice and her voice embodies the whole ad.

If only David Lynch would return to filmmaking...

Watch the video here if it doesn't appear on the post.

_____

- If you could fly to France in one minute, you could go straight into the sunset, right from noon. Unfortunately, France is too far away for that. But on your tiny planet, my little prince, all you need to do is move your chair a few steps. You can see the day end and the twilight falling whenever you like...

- One day, I saw the sunset forty-four times!
You know, one loves the sunset, when one is so sad...

- Were you so sad then? On the day of the forty-four sunsets?

But the little prince made no reply.

My favourite fragment of 'The Little Prince' <3

This is happiness

'My So-Called Life' has to be one of my favourite shows ever, it only had 19 episodes but it sure made an impact on teenagers of the 90s, because this was not another stupid teen show about highschool, this show had depth and even when i re-watched it years later, far from my highschool years, it still had all the sense in the world.

So here's one of my favourite scenes, this is when Brian, that awkward guy who was forever in love with Angela Chase, asked Delia to go to the dance with him but ditched her when Angela asked him for the dance. So she went anyway, and being on the dancefloor alone she finds the always misunderstood Ricky, and that happens. Their dancing moves are silly but that's the point, they both went solo to the dance and didn't care to dance like that infront of everyone because they loved the song, they enjoyed the moment and simply didn't care about anything else. This is happiness and I love it.

An Awesome Wave

Little did i know when i went to see Bloc Party live at the Mallorca Rocks last week, that apart from adoring their awesome performance live (they were in full force, nonstop, one of the best shows i've seen when it comes to enjoy it to the most), that i would like their opening band that much.

Alt-J were quite a surprise, they did an excellent performance live and truth is that i've been listening to their album 'An Awesome Wave' nonstop so i think they deserve a full post dedicated to them with the songs i liked the most of the album. My neighbours probably know all the lyrics by now but give them a chance because they're really good, something a little different from all the Brit bands coming out lately, something new:

'Before Midnight' (2013)

This is the first official still of 'Before Midnight', Richard Linklater's sequel after 'Before Sunrise' (1995) and 'Before Sunset' (2004) and little was known that this was happening. In fact, filming has just wrapped in Greece so one can wonder what destiny had for Jesse and Celine.

I'm not a big fan of sequels, though of course 'The Godfather', 'Alien', 'Indiana Jones', 'Star Wars' and 'Kill Bill' had all flawless follow-up films, but after seeing how wonderful 'Before Sunset' was after 9 years of the first movie, I have high hopes that this third movie is not gonna disappoint. In fact, I think the second movie was better than 'Before Sunrise' with that flawless ending, so if you haven't seen it, don't scrowl down as there are spoilers, but please do you a favour and watch it already.

Here's what the trio, Linklater, Hawke and Delpy, who scored a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination for 'Before Sunset', said about the production:

"It's great to be back together again, this time in beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight."

Because that was one of the best endings ever, perfection made in cinema:

Summertime sadness

Summer, how i adore it, even though this year it's been pretty exhausting with the heat but it's always a joy, it's my fave season and my mood is always up. But now it feels like it's already over, it always happens with September, there's that gloominess of a season that's about to end, weather changes and you start closing all the windows at home, cover yourself in bed at night and there's something really nice about that but at the same time it means that sunny days are gone and the feeling of freedom you have in Summer, even when you don't have vacations and have to work, it's lost. So here's the soundtrack and my fave things to do on Summer (lots of Lana del Rey, i know), this year has been quiet but really enjoyable, even though you always end up having greatest expectations in Summer that always leave you with the feeling of not having it lived it up to the most. Next year, we promise to ourselves.

Pool time has surpassed beach time this year, lazy Sundays by the pool.

But there has been some decent beach days, as well.

Concerts at night, starting with one of the best concerts of my life with the Queen of Pop and Bloc Party being the most awesome gig ever, Brits gone wild.

Afternoons at home hiding from the sun, avoiding the sunlight, waiting for the night to come.

Rides through the city with the sun kissing your skin.

Movie nights at home with friends, pink popcorn and cold drinks.

Suffocating heat that makes you want to live in your bathroom and take baths all day.

Party nights, so little this year, but full of laughs and shots! And what happens then, it stays there.

Dinners with friends, playing silly games and welcoming excellent news.

Late nights at home, reading, listening to music, watching tv, doing nothing, being a night owl just because you don't have to wake up early.

Fall walk with me

If you recognise the theme just by looking at the pics, then you have very good taste in tv shows/cinema. How genius is this? Let's forget about the clothes, these are not really my style but some singled out item is nice, but the Urban Outfitters Fall 2012 campaign has really nailed it this time. From Bob, to Audrey Horne, to Donna and James, and of course Laura Palmer, all the 'Twin Peaks' world is here in its full glory, and they fit the clothes so well that this is a really great ad campaign, i simply adored it when i first saw it so i had to post it.
