This is happiness

'My So-Called Life' has to be one of my favourite shows ever, it only had 19 episodes but it sure made an impact on teenagers of the 90s, because this was not another stupid teen show about highschool, this show had depth and even when i re-watched it years later, far from my highschool years, it still had all the sense in the world.

So here's one of my favourite scenes, this is when Brian, that awkward guy who was forever in love with Angela Chase, asked Delia to go to the dance with him but ditched her when Angela asked him for the dance. So she went anyway, and being on the dancefloor alone she finds the always misunderstood Ricky, and that happens. Their dancing moves are silly but that's the point, they both went solo to the dance and didn't care to dance like that infront of everyone because they loved the song, they enjoyed the moment and simply didn't care about anything else. This is happiness and I love it.

An Awesome Wave

Little did i know when i went to see Bloc Party live at the Mallorca Rocks last week, that apart from adoring their awesome performance live (they were in full force, nonstop, one of the best shows i've seen when it comes to enjoy it to the most), that i would like their opening band that much.

Alt-J were quite a surprise, they did an excellent performance live and truth is that i've been listening to their album 'An Awesome Wave' nonstop so i think they deserve a full post dedicated to them with the songs i liked the most of the album. My neighbours probably know all the lyrics by now but give them a chance because they're really good, something a little different from all the Brit bands coming out lately, something new:

'Before Midnight' (2013)

This is the first official still of 'Before Midnight', Richard Linklater's sequel after 'Before Sunrise' (1995) and 'Before Sunset' (2004) and little was known that this was happening. In fact, filming has just wrapped in Greece so one can wonder what destiny had for Jesse and Celine.

I'm not a big fan of sequels, though of course 'The Godfather', 'Alien', 'Indiana Jones', 'Star Wars' and 'Kill Bill' had all flawless follow-up films, but after seeing how wonderful 'Before Sunset' was after 9 years of the first movie, I have high hopes that this third movie is not gonna disappoint. In fact, I think the second movie was better than 'Before Sunrise' with that flawless ending, so if you haven't seen it, don't scrowl down as there are spoilers, but please do you a favour and watch it already.

Here's what the trio, Linklater, Hawke and Delpy, who scored a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination for 'Before Sunset', said about the production:

"It's great to be back together again, this time in beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight."

Because that was one of the best endings ever, perfection made in cinema:

Summertime sadness

Summer, how i adore it, even though this year it's been pretty exhausting with the heat but it's always a joy, it's my fave season and my mood is always up. But now it feels like it's already over, it always happens with September, there's that gloominess of a season that's about to end, weather changes and you start closing all the windows at home, cover yourself in bed at night and there's something really nice about that but at the same time it means that sunny days are gone and the feeling of freedom you have in Summer, even when you don't have vacations and have to work, it's lost. So here's the soundtrack and my fave things to do on Summer (lots of Lana del Rey, i know), this year has been quiet but really enjoyable, even though you always end up having greatest expectations in Summer that always leave you with the feeling of not having it lived it up to the most. Next year, we promise to ourselves.

Pool time has surpassed beach time this year, lazy Sundays by the pool.

But there has been some decent beach days, as well.

Concerts at night, starting with one of the best concerts of my life with the Queen of Pop and Bloc Party being the most awesome gig ever, Brits gone wild.

Afternoons at home hiding from the sun, avoiding the sunlight, waiting for the night to come.

Rides through the city with the sun kissing your skin.

Movie nights at home with friends, pink popcorn and cold drinks.

Suffocating heat that makes you want to live in your bathroom and take baths all day.

Party nights, so little this year, but full of laughs and shots! And what happens then, it stays there.

Dinners with friends, playing silly games and welcoming excellent news.

Late nights at home, reading, listening to music, watching tv, doing nothing, being a night owl just because you don't have to wake up early.

Fall walk with me

If you recognise the theme just by looking at the pics, then you have very good taste in tv shows/cinema. How genius is this? Let's forget about the clothes, these are not really my style but some singled out item is nice, but the Urban Outfitters Fall 2012 campaign has really nailed it this time. From Bob, to Audrey Horne, to Donna and James, and of course Laura Palmer, all the 'Twin Peaks' world is here in its full glory, and they fit the clothes so well that this is a really great ad campaign, i simply adored it when i first saw it so i had to post it.

Tarantino western

The trailer for 'Django Unchained', Quentin Tarantino's newest movie is out and it looks... ok? i don't think noone can expect for sure if his movies are going to be a total nosense or brilliant stuff, at first the idea of 'Kill Bill' sounded so awful but look at what a double masterpiece he made. But that's not always the case, and i'm talking about 'Inglorious Basterds', you can say all you want but that movie is not as good as his other ones (and yes, i'm counting 'Jackie Brown' among them).

Anyway, this new spaguetti western includes an interesting cast with Quentin's latest muse, Christoph Waltz, along his obligatory "muse" Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio being his arrogant self (but surely brilliant), Don Johnson, Joan Hill, Zoe Bell (yesss) and Jamie Foxx who i guess we'll see the best of him being under such a great actor's director hands. Spaniards will have to suck it and wait until January next year but here's the trailer:

Also, can this happen already? i know it's a fake poster but the idea of this project has been discussed by the director for a while and the Bride still has unfinished business...

"Four"

'Bloc Party' are back with "Four" their fourth studio album after releasing the not so impressive 'Intimacy' four years ago (though it had one of my fave BC songs, 'Signs'), and i can assure you they're back in full force. The album starts rocking their guitars hard, and even though the first single 'Octopus' is so so, don't get yourself fooled because it's a really great album. It sounds like good old Bloc Party but with a fresh and new sound, so here are my fave three songs from the album and a link to listen to the rest, i can't wait to dance to their music when i see them live next month, yessss.

How to ruin a show and alienate viewers

So, the first trailer of 'Gossip Girl's show final season is out, with some new footage at the very end of the video... Am i excited? Thank you but no. The last season's finale was so messed up when it comes to Blair, Dan and Chuck that many viewers (and i say many of those very few that are still watching), felt mocked. Because they went back the same old bs they already did thousand times before (Chuck and Blair) instead of going along with a new turn on the show that gave life and something new and cute to it (Dair: Dan and Blair). I'm aware that i sound like a highschool girl or something, but tv shows are my obsession and when i like one a lot, i don't like it to see it ruined.

Anyway, i already expressed my frustration here and since i don't see how this show can end in a good way, one that i like and doesn't suck hard, i'm gonna only say that the show premieres on October 8 and it will only have 11 episodes, there's the vid for you to decide but never forget how funny and cute they were:

Douglas vs Komova

Story behind this photo:

Douglas came up to crying Komova and said, "Hey! You did an incredible job. You inspire me.", and Komova said, "Thank you! You were amazing. You inspire me, too. Congratulations."

According to the rules, they hugged, but their hug was more than just following the rules. And they both said, "see you next time!". So, I guess, we all just have to wait and see a beautiful fight of two divas. - from the German sport news.

Farewell to Skins in 2013

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Little did i know when i watched the 'Skins' show finale this year that there was going to be more 'Skins' left. The seventh season, which is likely to have only three episodes, is not going to feature a new cast and generation, but characters from the beginning of the show till season 6! Who would have expected that? It will wrap most of the character stories and i can't wait for that. Nicholas Hoult has already said that he won't be coming back because of scheduling conflicts, and it's really a shame because Tony was the center character in the first two seasons, and Larissa Wilson, who played Jal, also confirmed she won't be back but here are some characters that (i think) can't be a miss in that final season:

Cassie, my absolute fave character from the whole show because she's "oh wow" so lovely. I really hope they bring her back because she was the reason i liked the show in the first place.

Chris, my second favourite. Now it's not likely that he will be back as (spoiler) he had the most sad ending of the show ever, but it would be nice to see a flashback or something. His character was so funny and yet so adorable that i would love to see him on 'Skins' again. If not then "fuck it!".

Effy has to be a must, she's the character that appeared in most episodes as she was in both generation 1 and 2 and it would be nice to see how she's doing after the whole season 4 drama.

Sid, he was awkwardly cool and absolutely anyone that watches the show wants to know if he did finally met Cassie on the Big Apple.

Katie and Emily, the twins! Katie was so hateable on season 3 but so loving on s4 that i want to know more about her character, just like with Emily though i liked her better on s3. Still, i want and expect both of them back.

JJ, he was the sweetest thing, the kind that made you want to hug him until he was out of air. I want to know if he got his happy ending and i hope to see him for the final season.

Cook, not that i actually loved his character or anything but he was lots of fun and if Effy appears, he has to be there too.

Pandora, a sweet slice of pie. She was really funny and awkward but her character grew on me. It will be interesting to see where does her relationship with Effy and Thomas stands.

Thomas, the real tear-jecker. His story was so emotive and beautiful, this character always had wise and touching words for the rest. He has to be back.

Yeah, and none from the third generation (seasons 5 and 6) but only because we've seen enough from them. Maybe Mini would be nice to see and Franky if she didn't become so annoying on s6 but the less we have of these, the more we'll have from other seasons, so bring me generations 1 and 2 more!
