Garbage's new single 'Empty'

Garbage are back in full force with a new album coming out soon titled 'Strange Little Birds', and a lot of expectation from their most hardcore fans. The first taste of what's coming was released yesterday with the first single 'Empty' and while i've been waiting for new music for so long, this new song was ok. It's good old Garbage, which means that while it has their signature sound and the song is catchy as hell, still it really sounds like it's nothing new. But anyway, the song sounds powerful and despite not being impressed when i first listened to it, now it's growing on me.
The new album will be out on June 10th and i will see them live in Madrid at the Madcool Festival in Madrid in a few months, so in the meantime i hope they release some more songs. Enjoy 'Empty' below!

'The Neon Demon' trailer
Elle Fanning stars in this terror thriller located in the most frivolous LA and centered in the modelling world, and everything looks mysterious and intriguing, showing its cruelest and most superficial side. In fact, it looks loosely like Elle Fanning's 'Black Swan' version but instead of a ballerina we have a rising star in the catwalk business. I literally can't wait to watch this film and while Refn's most known work is 'Drive', which is amazing, i really hope this movie moves more in the direction of the very underrated and misunderstood 'Only God Forgives' and it looks a bit like so.
Watch the trailer and get anxious with the waiting.

Paolo Sorrentino's 'Youth'
(No Spoilers)
This movie. This fucking movie. Up to the first four minutes of the film i was already drooling over how marvellous was everything that i was seeing. Because if something makes Sorrentino stand out is the powerful images, at times oneiric scenes that speak louder than words.
Before i continue i have to admit that i have only seen his last two works, 'La Giovinezza' and 'La Gran Belleza' (The Great Beauty) but these two have been enough to have my complete attention on him. And while 'The Great Beauty' was a reflection on nightlife, leisure and being bored by all that, despite the glamour, the wealth and the apparent wisdom of artists and poets, in 'Youth' it depicts the contemplation of life growing old while surrounded by a society that glorifies and celebrates youth and has no room for anyone past that age and time.
Starring two old and enormous actors, Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel reflect on life and success, past mistakes and failed flames and all that while contemplating the ephemeral beauty that surrounds them while they're vacationing together. Both Caine and Keitel are companions in life and while one has retired from music, the only thing he understands, the other one is trying to complete his last movie that will serve as his final will after some disastrous works.
This movie is an observation of life at an old age, when it seems that everything glorious that could happen was long time ago and we're only witness of everyone else's prime of their lives. And Sorrentino achieves that with superb performances by his two leading actors, an spectacular cinematography and reflections that transcend the screen and make you think about what's slowly running through our fingers without noticing, that is the time of beauty, of feeling alive. Our youth.
You can see more stunning images after the cut, including the shot that has trapped me for days, that shot towards the ending of Michael Caine's character sitting in the hotel room, totally mesmerizing.

All Saints' 'Red Flag (2016)
All Saints have finally released their much awaited fourth album after the nice taste that was 'One Strike'. They're one of my fave girlbands ever so you can imagine how much i was waiting for this.
Recorded ten years after 'Studio 1', Shaznay, Melanie, Nicole and Natalie are back more mature than before, with deeper and more heartfelt lyrics that come from years of experience, heartbreaks and failed relationships. That can only add to their sound and while their music is not as fun and flirty, it sounds fresh as well, not as risky when it comes to sound (except for 'Tribal' and 'Ratchet Behaviour') but the result feels new. And as they say, unlike with their previous album, this time felt right to work together:
"This time round feels like everything's happened at the right time."
And they're telling us they did not only reunite for the money, that is. So, below i'm posting my fave songs from the record, and while i think All Saints' first two albums are still their best ones to date, this one is not their weakest record. Listen to 'Red Flag' here.

Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Boy Problems' directed by Petra Collins
'Emotion' was one of the best albums last year and is still being on top this one because one of the best songs from the record (if not the best one) has been released as a single and has a fab music video.
'Boy Problems' is an instant hit, when you first listen to it you adore it and can't stop playing in your head, that or play it non stop as i did so i expected big things from the music video that's directed by none other than Petra Collins. I've already posted several works by Collins here, and she has a very concrete signature style and she has it all over the vid. The glitter, the 90s nostalgia, girls lying around their bedrooms, checking on their cellphones and being with their girlfriends are totally Petra's trademark and while i like it all maybe i was expecting a totally different thing from this video. Don't get me wrong, i think the vid is fine but the song is so catchy and fun that i was hoping for something more lively and flirty. Anyway, enjoy the music video because maybe i had something in my mind totally different because i've been listening to this song for so long now i already had in mind how the video was going to be.
Also, i'm posting below another music vid fron Carly 'Your Type' directed by Gia Coppola that has grown on me with time, i love the song but again maybe the vid was not as fun as the song is but i totally love it now. Enjoy some Carly and some stills of 'Boy Problems' below!
