Maddie Ziegler photographed by Petra Collins

"There's something about Maddie Ziegler," and there really is. She's only 12 but she has already set into stardom thanks to Sia's videos and mostly to her dancing. Because who didn't love to see her dance in 'Chandelier' or in the 'Elastic Heart' music vids? She really has something and that is what Petra Collins captures with her camera for i-D's current issue.

You know i love Collins' work so i couldn't even like this photoshoot more, she photographs Maddie in her own home, in her bedroom putting make up on like any other 12 year old, lazing around with her trophies or watching 'Pretty Little Liars' (she made a cameo this season), Ziegler seems to be a girl at heart despite her star status. The shoot is gorgeous and as always, i love Petra's vision on girls because it's always so on point and so intimate that this couldn't be a miss.

Emma Roberts is the best Roberts

Or at least right now, you have to admit, because her aunt is kinda missing these days. Anyway, i adore Emma ever since i watched her in the super cute teen comedy 'Wild Child', and while she seems a little bit like a spoiled brat (she has been photographed by the paparazzi throwing tantrums and she was arrested for beating the shit up of her then fiancee Evan Peters), you just gotta love this little diva. And well, while we have to wait yet till September 22 to see her along the ultimate Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis in 'Scream Queens', they have posed in this very nice shoot for Variety, because they're true divas in their own. I really can't wait for that show, like really.

And also, bonus Emma, because she has posed for Aerie's photoshop-free campaign, which is something excellent because this brand never airbrushes of puts any filter into any of their promotional photos, which is rare, but i admire how they don't care about beauty standards and want to show the female body as it is. Of course, Emma Roberts is a little bird and has a fit body but check out their website to see other non unretouched shoots.

So, you have below the Variety photoshoot by Yu Tsai and after the cut you can see the very great and cute Airie campaign which i hope motivates other brands not to photoshoot models because natural is always better.

Don't miss the unretouched fun and flirty Aeriel shoot after the cut!

Top 20 Madonna songs

In honor of Madonna's 57th birthday, i've done the very difficult task of deciding which are my 20 most favourite songs out of her 30 year career. Not easy at all. At first i was gonna only do a top 10 but i really couldn't decide between only 10 songs so here's a top 20 instead. I know many will be missing classic Madonna songs like 'Like a Virgin' or 'Material Girl', but i'm not fond of those songs as so many people are so enjoy, don't judge, and let's celebrate the Queen of Pop's belated bday:

1. Bedtime Story

2. Justify My Love

3. Vogue

Three movies about female friendship

Lately i've seen some movies about young female friendship, and while these films are ok and are not anything quite memorable, i liked their own portrayal of friendships during your early teens. It's a blurry period where looking back you do realize that some best friends you had back then weren't such great when you think about them now but i guess that's part of everyone's life.

So, i'm commenting a bit the relationship we see in each of these movies that are nice to watch on a quiet and lazy Sunday afternoon. There will be some spoilers!

Very Good Girls (2013) - Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen play BFFs Lilly and Gerri and make a pact to loose their virginity the Summer before going to college. But they fall for the same guy. Out of the two other movies, this is the one where we see a more pure and strong friendship between the protagonists. They've been friends since little girls so hence the strong bond though as it happens in life, not everything is shared between best friends. That's something i liked, that they keep some things to themselves, especially Lilly. She hides the fact that she has won the bet but also fallen in love with a guy they both have a crush on, so she doesn't want to hurt her friend and doesn't tell her. But secrets bring chaos and they finally part because of a guy. As much as it is a cliche, it's a fucking truth. Boys can tear kindergarden friendships apart like that. Nicely, the bond between Lilly and Gerri is stronger than that and they're finally able to end the Summer in good terms because they love each other in the end. It's a nice movie but somehow quite forgetable.

Lily & Kat (2015)  - Probably, this is the one that i liked best out of the three. Two best friends who love partying together and do everything together, try to make the best of the last remaining days before one of them moves back to England. While the idea is as simple as it is, this one does good at showing that friendships in your 20s sometimes are just based on partying and hanging out but doesn't really contain any substance. The friendship between Jessica Rothe's and Hannah Murray's characters it's also one of those toxic female friendships where they're pitching themselves against each other but at the same time they hold onto each other. And while it's painful especially for Lily to see how her world falls apart with the sudden depart of her friend, she will also move on from this to be better with herself. I could relate to the situation these two friends had because it happened to me too in my 20s. Friends back then weren't such friends because if so, they would still be in my life.

Bande de Filles, Girlhood (2014) - I expected a bit more from this movie but well, it wasn't bad. Didn't like the ending too much but that's another subject. Marieme lives in a neighbourhood where she's pretty much ignored by boys but she starts to hang out with the cool girls of he hood and she changes her style and her hair and everything. Here, the friendship she has with these three other girls at first seems convenient, but we see little by little that these girls hold on to each other and what they represent together in the neighbourhood is what makes them need each other. It's a complicated situation where there aren't many ways out to have a better life and that's what keeps them together. The illusion that they are something great among mediocre people, or at least that's what they believe. I liked that they weren't bitches to each other and also the natural process of going different ways as time goes by. Not a bad movies but expectations were too high.

So, any other movies you've seen recently or not so recently, about young female friendships?

'UnReal' Season 1

(Spoiler free)
How can i start talking about the absolute show of the Summer, 'UnReal'? I started watching it because i was short on tv shows (who isn't in Summer) and as i heard tons of good things about it i gave it a try and... watched the seven episodes that have already aired in a week.

'UnReal' uses the reality show format for its own benefit, it's like it takes what people like of them into the show so you have the good thing about both formats in the same show. But don't think this is a mere guilty pleasure, the surprise with 'UnReal' is that it's far from a dumb show. It starts kinda like that but soon it gets darker and that's when you start to love it. Not only do we see what would a group of contestants do for the love of the bachelor, but also how twisted and manipulative is the world of reality tv. It's all for the ratings no matter what, no matter who, and that's ain't just an expression.

Another great thing that this show is the badness and fierceness of its two female protagonists. Not only the main character Rachel (Shiri Appleby) is not your troubled ordinary leading lady, she's far from that, but also Quinn (Constance Zimmer) is the epitome of bad bitch, two strong characters that are the key element of the series. Because where do we find such complicated and disturbing female characters? With Quinn is easy, the average boss who has to be a bitch in a world of men (not to take any credit to Zimmer's amazing portrayal of her) but a character like Rachel? I don't think no one fully understands her. Of course, when you start watching a show you're kinda forced to like the main character but not here, and it's something i liked a lot from the show. Rachel is not your average complicated protagonist, she's much more complex than that, you don't get sometimes why she does things and she has her low moments and makes bad decisions like any other person, but still, she's a whole mess you cannot clean up. And if you think you do then explain me what was going on in her mind when talking to Quinn in that very last scene with them on the finale?

I can't, seriously, i can't recommend this show more because it would physically hurt. I already have two friends hooked on it like heroine so give it a watch because this show is the show of the Summer, 'Sense8' who?

Also, the last scene of the finale featured this amazing song by Alt-J and it couldn't be more perfect:
