70th Annual Academy Awards 2018

Long time no see, huh? The thing is that i've been on hiatus because i have this big test coming up in a few months and i had to really focus on it, but i've missed posting some things here and the specials i used to do so i'm taking a little bit of time to it. I will be catching up with some old news like the Academy Awards that i couldn't miss and also be posting some new stuff, so this blog is not over.

And about the Academy Awards this year i have to say that they were kind of satisfactory as the overrated 'Get Out' didn't get the Best Picture Award as i thought it would (i'm sorry but despite the message that lies within the movie, it didn't fascinate me that much). This year my absolute favorite was obviously 'Call Me By Your Name' because that film really mesmerized me, and out of the three noms it received, it got the Best Adapted Screenplay award which was really great. Another favorite of mine that really blew my mind and i didn't expect that was Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Phantom Thread' which was really exquisite and twisted and only got Best Achievement in Costume Design which was highly deserved but i would had given them Best Actor for the farewell performance of Daniel Day Lewis and Best Director. Another movie that was brilliant was 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' with a stellar performance from Frances McDormand that obviously got the award for Best Actress. Sam Rockwell got Best Supporting Actor and he did good but i loved way more Woody Harrelson's heartbreaking performance on that film as he was also nominated in that category. And my other favorite that only got one nomination was the super cute, real and tender 'The Florida Project' with Willem Dafoe also nominated as Best Supporting Actor. This movie deserved more credit, as it did director Sean Baker for 'Tangerine', but well things are like this.

And now, about the red carpet, this year they really put on some really pretty and amazing dresses! Starting with gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o in Atelier Versace and Danai Gurira in Gabriella Hearst (above) the best looks from the night. Don't miss the rest after the cut!

Zendaya was also gorgeous in Giambattista Valli and Rita Moreno put on the same dress she wore when she won for 'West Side Story' and looked equally fabulous

Sandra Bullock was a gold goddess in Louis Vuitton while Gal Gadot brought the 20s chic back in Givenchy

Jennifer Lawrence was stunning in this John Galliano for Dior dress while St. Vincent gave us Bjork swan vibes with this Saint Laurent look

As for fluffy dresses, Gina Rodriguez in Zuhair Murad and Mira Sorvino in Romona Keveza looked both beautiful

Jane Fonda was exquisite and younger than ever in this Balmain gown while Betty Gabriel was really beautiful in Tony Ward

And Jennifer Garner brought a touch of electric blue to the red carpet in this Atelier Versace gown
