The girls of 'Mustang'

'Mustang' will be in my Things that Mattered in 2016 post at the end of the year, that's for sure, and i'm still thinking about this movie even though i watched it last week. It really has something, i don't know if it's the story, the young cast or the direction, or all of that, but everything captures you for good.

The five young girls, (from left to right, Ilayda Akdogan, Doga Zeynep Doguslu, Günes Sensoy, Elit Iscan and Tugba Sunguroglu), between ages 14 to 22, are absolutely the heart stealer of the film, and as i'm obsessed with them right now so i'm posting some of the photoshoots they've made. Starting with Mayan Toledano's shoot for Vogue that really resembles 'The Virgin Suicides' and who photographs director Deniz Gamze Ergüven as well, the French-Turkish director has explained why the film is titled like that:

"A mustang is a wild horse that perfectly symbolizes my five spirited and untamable heroines. Visually, even, their hair is like a mane and, in the village, they're like a herd of mustangs coming through. The story moves fast, galloping forward, and that energy is at the heart of the picture, just like the mustang that gave it its name."

And the title really makes sense after reading that. After the cut there are a few other photos from the cast and the director from their promotional tour, from the LA Times, Access WDUN, Indiewire and Teen Vogue, so be sure to check them out.
