88th annual Academy Awards 2016

The Academy Awards were last night and while i never watch the gala anymore and i care less and less about the awards every year, i'm happy that Leonardo DiCaprio won. I don't think 'The Revenant' is his best performance but the man had been snubbed so many times that it was about time he got his golden statue, because unfortunately, the Oscars work like that.

As for the rest of the movies, i barely have watched anything nominated except for 'Mad Max: Fury Road', that it's how action movies should be done nowadays but that's it, i'm happy for Brie Larson because even though i haven't seen 'Room' yet she proved she's an amazing actress in 'Short Term 12' and i'm also happy for 'Ex Machina' (i thought Vikander had won for this film) and Ennio Morricone for 'The Hateful Eight'. But well,  the other movies i watched are 'The Martian' that was ok but didn't thrill me and 'Carol' that i don't know, maybe i need a re-watch because the movie told me nothing, except for that final scene that was full of emotions.

So now to the important stuff, the red carpet! Honestly, there are so few good gowns this year that i'm really surprised, many have failed on the red carpet like usual stunners Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts or Kerry Washington, i'm undecided wether i like Alicia Vikander's, Cate Blanchett's and Brie Larson's dresses and the rest of the looks are nothing memorable except for the few ones i'm posting below so be sure to check out these few pretty dresses and tell me your faves! More behind the cut!

While i posted Rooney and Cate Blanchett together, here the winner out of the two is Rooney Mara. She was wearing this exquisite Givenchy dress that made her look ethereal, one of the best dressed of the night.

Another stunner this year was Jennifer Lawrence in Dior again, and this dress is really amazing. Thankfully she didn't win another Oscar.

And another gorgeous look was Elizabeth Banks in Ralph and Russo and this dress is a dream. I can't decide if it's my favourite from the night because even though there are only a few ones that i loved, all of them are so fabulous it's complicated.

Jane Wu was stunning in this dress by Galia Lahav and looked truly amazing while doing so.

And finally model Doris Mous was more than stunning and awesome in this dress by Dennis Diem that was breathtaking.

Bonus: Lea Michele, Kerry Washington and Alicia Vikander on some Academy Awards after-parties, because Lea was gorgeous in this Pamella Roland dress and Kerry looked better in Atelier Versace than in the actual awards just like Alicia that looked like a winner in this sober but fab Louis Vuitton.
